Publisher & Editor

Elizabeth has spent her professional life in education as a teacher, facilitator and in executive roles. She has always had a passion for the communications industry and has held a range of media and communication positions throughout her career, within her community and beyond. Elizabeth is realising a lifelong dream through the establishment of this magazine with her husband Alex.

Alex Tickle
Publisher & Advertising

As a fifth generation grazier, Alex has spent a lifetime on the land and has a natural affinity with the rural way of life. With a strong background in breeding commercial and stud cattle and Australian Stock Horses, he has enjoyed a number of industry highlights throughout his time. He’s passionate about the Central West region, particularly the heritage and people that make it so unique and is looking forward to contributing to the area as the publisher of Central West Lifestyle.

Jake Lindsay
Chief Writer & Photographer

Documenting life in the bush has been the passion of Shot by Jake (aka Jake Lindsay) for over 30 years. Armed with his trusty Nikons and one old black jeep, this is one country journo who can never get enough! From shooting country characters, old bush pubs, farmers and graziers, festivals and anything that catches his well-trained eye, Jake is country to the core. He does what he likes and loves what he does!

Gina Cranson
Sub-Editor & Proofreader

Gina has served as a newspaper journalist and sub-editor on country, regional and metropolitan newspapers for the past 25 years, earning a reputation among readers and colleagues as a thoughtful, entertaining writer and a conscientious sub-editor. In most recent years Gina was considered an integral part of The Newcastle Herald's Weekender and H2 Review teams and was a popular Weekender columnist.

Zora Regulic
Art Director

Zora studied Creative Arts and graduated from University to pursue her career as a Designer, Art Director and Creative Director on various publications ranging from newspapers to news magazines and lifestyle magazines. She has a love of print and printing, and has restored her two vintage letterpress machines that she now uses to print bespoke stationery. Now all she needs is to build another shed on the farm she and her partner own to accommodate the lovely machines.

Kate Boshammer
Business Strategist & Advertising Designer

Kate is a website and graphic designer, and her business Kabosh Creative specialises in delivering high quality websites to rural and regional clients. Kate is based on the land, and is involved with her husband in their stud and commercial beef cattle operations. She also has a background in rural journalism, having written for local, state and national publications. Kate held the Art Director role for the first 10 editions of Central West Lifestyle, and today supports the business through strategy, systems and I.T.

Elizabeth Swane
Garden Writer

Elizabeth is a member of one of Australia’s best-known rose growing families and is the daughter of rosarian Ben Swane. Elizabeth worked at the family nursery, Swane’s Nursery at Dural, for 25 years until its sale in 2000. She has worked as the Horticultural Consultant to Burkes Backyard Magazine, been a regular gardening presenter on the popular talkback show ‘Weekends with Simon Marnie’ on ABC Radio 702 in Sydney and has written for several national gardening magazines.

Anna Tickle
Writer & Social Media Manager

Anna's background lies in rural communications, having previously worked with leading agribusiness public relations agency, Cox Inall Communications, in Sydney. Anna has a passion for the written word and digital communications, and has a Bachelor of Communications (Public Relations)/Bachelor of Business Studies from Charles Sturt University, Bathurst. A self-taught musician, Anna also fulfils her creativity through music as a guitarist, pianist and vocalist. When she’s not putting pen to paper, Anna relishes life in the country and horse riding.

Catherine Player
Writer

Originally from West Wyalong, Catherine has resided in the Central West town of Orange almost long enough to be called a local. Catherine has a background in accounting, business, resource writing and development and education but admits that writing and the arts are her first love. A keen musician, Catherine plays in Central West venues most weekends which has further cemented her love for the people and the places of the Central West.

Jane Sanderson
Weddings Writer

Jane is a Secondary Teacher at Macquarie Anglican Grammar School, Dubbo, and lives with her husband on their property at Collie. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood & Primary), a Bachelor of Educational Studies (Secondary Agriculture) and is currently completing her Master of Education (Educational Leadership). Jane has a passion for breeding stud and commercial beef cattle, riding horses, studying and reading. She is enjoying her involvement with the magazine through showcasing the fabulous weddings held in the Central West.

Heather Crosby
Writer & Upcoming Events

Heather has a great love of the people and places of central and western New South Wales. During a long career in the media she has worked as a news and feature writer, page designer and sub-editor for newspapers and magazines. Heather has also been involved in book editing and promotional copywriting for businesses and government departments. She is married with two adult sons and thrives on being part of the Dubbo community. Heather has a passion for history and the written word.

Zenio Lapka
Photographer

Zenio was born in 1957 at Crown Street, Sydney to Polish/Ukrainian parents. He grew up and was educated in the then, outer western suburb of Bass Hill. Zenio always had an interest in a variety of visual/graphic arts, then along came the two great loves of his life; his wife Lorraine, and photography.
Over the past forty years he has worked as a freelancer and on staff for some of the major media organisations in Australia as editorial photographer. In 2002 Zenio and Lorraine made a tree change to the Central West, where he was employed by Rural Press/Fairfax Regional Daily in Bathurst for twelve and a half years. Zenio enjoys working on freelance assignments with Central West Lifestyle Magazine.

Robert I. Bruce
Photographer

Although Robert was born and raised on the land, he now works as a photographer from Orange in the Central West. He has been a very happy in this profession for over 30 years. Photography has taken him all over Australia, capturing a mixture of rural real estate, portrait, wedding, and sports photography. In 1987 he met the famous Australian photographer Max Dupain who taught him how to see and use light, and to understand the importance of perspective in photography, he was very lucky to have had such an accomplished mentor at that time.

Amanda O'Sullivan
Home & Style Writer and Photographer

Amanda is country girl with a love of interiors, styling and all things creative. She is the proud owner of RedAgape Guesthouse in Millthorpe and RedAgape Blog, where she showcases her creative endeavours. She has a passion for photographing real country homes in the Central West and believes that all homes have the potential to be beautiful.

Dayna Tierney
Writer

Dayna is a firm believer that everyone has a story of their own that deserves to be told, and relishes in the opportunity to share the stories of those oft left unspoken. With a background in welfare and psychology, Dayna’s dedication to helping others evolved into her business Symmetrix Wellbeing, newly established in Dubbo. Although she openly admits that this is her first passion, Dayna has always loved to write. From her childhood poetry, penned in superfluous swirls, to writing for the Department of Agriculture in her earlier years – writing has been, and still is the ‘quiet elixir’ for her soul.

Lorraine Hills

From classing elite wool, to judging chutney and pickles at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Lorraine Hills is a farming woman to the core. She has an undying passion and an enviable knack for country cookery, and is an icon of versatility and genuine talent. “Farm visitors are always a joy and to be able to cook and share recipes from the past with them is a pleasure.”

Nicole Bonfield
Travel Writer

Nicole has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting, but abandoned her pursuit of a full time acting career when she fell in love with teaching Drama to teenagers. She is currently the Head of a Creative and Performing Arts faculty in a NSW government school, and balances this with her occasional roles on stage and in film. Nicole, and her photographer husband, John, travel at every opportunity and blog about their adventures.

 

John Baltaks
Travel Photographer

John has been taking photographs from when he was given a box brownie as a boy. His keen eye for detail and natural ability to capture evocative "moments" of people and places led him from those first black and white images through to wedding and travel photography. He currently balances his love of photography with his "real job" of being a secondary school teacher. John, and his wife, Nicole, travel at every opportunity and blog about their adventures.

 

John Curley
Accountant

For 17 years John was a successful farmer in the Wellington area running a merino, beef cattle and irrigated lucerne business. Due to a back injury John took some time off farming. Knowing he loved "numbers", John’s own accountant asked him to come and work for them. John subsequently completed his Masters in Tax and then became a principal with Peacocke Accountants, with a desire to help businesses grow. John particularly loves assisting with overall strategy, correctly structuring the business and optimising profit – using cloud technology to assist in these goals. It has been his absolute pleasure to support the success of the wonderful group at Central West Lifestyle Magazine.
